It came as a huge revolution among the people and was a huge success as well. But such a diet plan which was against the norms of the traditional diet created a ruckus among the medical circles. Several researches have been carried out so far to confirm the efficacy of the same over the three decades. It has been in the controversies all these years. But atkins diet has shown the positive results so far without any side effects on the person following it.
Studies proved that this diet form was capable of causing a reduction of 5.2 kg against 1.8 kg of the low fat diet. People following this diet have got desired results. Surveys have proved it too that this form of diet causes quick reduction of weight over the same span of time as any traditional diet. It has been proved all over the world that following atkins diet is not harmful to health.
Criticism
Atkins diet was one among the most expensive plans so far since it emphasized on protein and fat rich food. So many people were not able to afford it. It has always been in controversies with its efficacies and side effects. But the recent researches have supported its claims but only for short term. People following this diet suffer from fluctuations in their weights when they had stopped following it. It was also claimed that bad breath and fatigue were common manifestations of low carb diet plan. Despite all controversies and questions atkins diet proved to be an overall success.
Conclusion
Many people confuse this diet with the liberty to gorge on fatty food as much as possible. That is not atkins diet approach. It emphasizes on the reduction of carbohydrate but it does not propose over consumption of proteins and fats. It wont give desired results if such diets are not strictly followed.
